Empalo Analytics Privacy Policy

Last updated 12 October 2025

For empalo.me visitors, we do not use cookies and we do not collect any personal data. If you decide to create an account, we ask for the bare minimum and only share it with services that are absolutely necessary for the app to function.

At Empalo Analytics, we are committed to complying with GDPR, CCPA, PECR and other privacy regulations on our website and on our web analytics product too. The privacy of your data — and it is your data, not ours! — is a big deal to us.

In this policy, we lay out what data we collect and why, how your data is handled and your rights to your data. We promise we never sell your data: never have, never will.

If you have placed the Empalo Analytics script on your website, take a look at our data policy for details on the information we do collect about your website visitors on your behalf.

1. WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?

We are committed to privacy-first analytics. As a visitor to empalo.org:

  • No personal information is collected.
  • No cookies are used or stored in your browser.
  • No data is shared with or sold to third parties.
  • No information is monetized or used for advertising purposes.

Our analytics tool — Empalo Analytics — collects only anonymous, aggregated usage data to help us understand general traffic trends. The goal is to track overall activity, not individual visitors.

Information collected includes:

  • Page URL – The page being viewed.
  • Referrer – The website that referred the visitor.
  • Operating System & Browser – Derived from the User-Agent header. The full User-Agent is discarded.
  • Country – Estimated using IP-derived location data, then discarded.
  • Device Type (mobile/desktop) – Determined from the User-Agent header.
  • Spider Detection – Used to exclude bot traffic.

2. HOW DO WE CALCULATE UNIQUE VISITORS?

To respect visitor privacy, Empalo Analytics does not use cookies, local storage, or persistent identifiers. We generate daily-changing anonymous identifiers using a hashing process that includes a rotating salt:

hash(daily_salt + website_domain + ip_address + user_agent + image_hash)

  • The hash is used only for counting daily unique visitors.
  • IP addresses and User-Agents are never stored — not in logs, databases, or anywhere else.
  • After 24 hours, old salts are deleted, preventing any cross-day tracking.

3. DATA OWNERSHIP

Your data belongs to you. When you use Empalo Analytics to measure your website traffic, you retain full ownership of your site’s data. We store analytics on our cloud servers for functionality, but you maintain complete control.

  • Your website data is not shared with advertisers.
  • Your website data is not sold or mined for behavioral trends.
  • You can delete your data or account at any time.
  • Once deleted, all related data is permanently erased and cannot be recovered.

4. DATA SECURITY

We use modern security practices to protect data in transit and at rest. Although no system can be guaranteed 100% secure, we ensure that our systems and infrastructure adhere to industry best practices and minimize the amount of data collected to reduce risk by design.

5. YOUR RIGHTS

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under data protection laws (like GDPR, CCPA, or PECR), including the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing. You may also have the right to data portability.

You can exercise your rights by contacting us at veracohopie@gmail.com.

6. UPDATES TO THIS NOTICE

We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by a new “Last updated” date and will be effective as soon as it is accessible. We encourage you to review this page regularly to stay informed about how we protect your information.
